Any other YMCA certified divers?

I just pulled out my C-card, and I first got it on Aug 1, 1979. 32 years ago! Ouch...I thought I was still young.

 

Does YMCA still certify divers? Will I have any problems using a C-Card that old? (I have dove within the past couple of years.)

YMCA no longer does certifications as I understand

 

but you can get a new/replacement card from them (with a more current picture)

No way - I like the college age me on the card! I look damm good!

The card is still recognized. If you haven't been diving much or if you want a different certifying agency, you might take an advanced class or even go for a Nitrox card. I have to laugh though, I had my nitrox card refused by a diveshop in Aruba which wanted to see my C-Card. I told them that it would be aweful hard to get a Nitrox card without a C-Card, and they said that they didn't care. I showed them my 2002 Rescue diver instead of a Naui card I have had since 1972.

I did dive last week, and loved it. No problem with C-Card. On-board, I asked the dive guide how old he was. He was a wee thing of 6 months old when I got my first certification 34 years ago!
