Travel Lynx is the car service we used instead of renting a car. We used them the whole time we were there and they were absolutely great. They picked us up at the airport and took us to Ron Jon's and the next day they picked us up at Ron Jon's and took us to Kennedy Space Center, they picked us up from Kennedy Space Center and took us back to Ron Jon's and Sun they picked us up from Ron Jon's and took us to the ship and the following Sun he was right there waiting for us and took us back to the airport.

Oh wow, that sounds awesome. I hate the hassle of renting cars, getting maps out and trying to figure out where I'm going, getting lost, etc....I'm going to check Travel Linx out!!

Thanks OPSoccerMOM for that first hand information! Did you enjoy your time on the Mariner? Anything we need to know about? Was it Eastern or Western? How was the motion on the ship?

Who is the cruise director and how was he/she??

Hi! Just got off same cruise as OPsoccorMOM and agree that it was great! Enjoyed Labadee, get a hammock under the palm trees. Hsb stayed there all day. They are scattered all around. Jamaica used Peat Taylor (thru these boards) great time, hit the falls in early am and avoided the crowds! Watch out for Nativeways on Grand Cayman, had booked stingray tour but they overbooked( 7 ships in port) and we lost out. Enjoyed our own cab ride to Chanukab Park in Cozumel, rented snorkel equip and saw lots right off the beach. Kirk was the cruise director and did a good job. Lots of fun. No problem with the motion of the ship, tho first day at sea was windy and in-line skating was closed. :) Glad to answer any other questions!

OPsoccermom: We were on the Mariner, western itinerary, in January. We had two D-2 balcony cabins next door to eachother. We asked to have our balcony divider opened up. They were not able to open the divider until Friday...because we had high wind and some rain earlier in the week. They finally opened the divider on Friday. We had the balcony open from Friday to Sunday and it was wonderful.

Maybe the seas were rough during your sailing and that is why they wouldn't open the divider?

Seas were wonderful, as you would expect in March. We were told this was a "new" policy evidently due to something that had recently happened, and RCI was concerned re: liability. Of course, they could have just made that up, but we had no success getting them opened.

Sure would have been nice considering the number of cabins we had....

Agree with dreamcruiser - our western cruise on Mariner was a great time. For those of you on the Mariner whose GC port day was changed to Wednesday, this is a great move. GC cannot handle 6 or 7 ships in post at once. Many excursions, including RCI and Carnivals were cancelled. RCI staff told us several times they were "surprised" by the number of ships in post in GC - amazing since I was not surprised due to links on these boards. Mariner staff said they were looking at revising the itinerary.

The Mariner is a beautiful ship. Tons going on. Food was very good. Personally, we prefer somewhat smaller ships, but we were travelling with a family group with many first time cruisers. There are so many people on board that it was essentially impossible to request anything way out of the ordinary (except for Archie the bartender at the Sky pool bar). Got a little old hearing the word "no".

Other than that personal opinion, it was great. Book your excursions independently. We did the dolphin royal swim in Cozumel and went river tubing in Jamaica. Had great experiences with each. Labadee was also very nice. Only disappointment was the crowds in GC.

I'm trying to set up a family reunion for summer 2006 on Mariner. Where did you have all your cabins and what kind were they??

Looking for information on the pools on Voyager class ships. We have only sailed Princess Grand class and are thinking about RCL, Voyager class. When they say the pools are salt water is it like ocean salt water or more like saline? Princess has only fresh water pools which is a big deal when travelling with children, thanks
