Wild Bill Posted October 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2011 We were in St.Thomas on Christmas Day, and all the shops were open. I don't know about Costa Rica though. 1 Happy Cruiser gave you good advice I think.
toeloop Posted October 26, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2011 I have sailed during Christmas several times, will be sailing on the Grand this year. Many of the islands actually celebrate the holiday on Christmas eve. Not sure if it is the same at your stop.
Rare geoherb Posted October 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2011 We took the Island Princess to the Panama Canal last Christmas. The ship was in the Panama Canal for Christmas Day, so there weren't any independent shore excursions for people to try to book. The Princess ones went on as usual. We joined other folks from our roll call in booking an independent tour in Costa Rica. We went to the sloth sanctuary and did the boat ride in the nature canal. Check out the port of calls board for Costa Rica to find the names of some of the tour operators and then check with them to find out what your options will be.
