MIA airport to FLL cruise port

I'm on holiday

What do you think would be a safe flight time for our return flight out of MIA? We will be on the Liberty returning on a Monday morning into Port Everglades and need to make our way to MIA. American has an 11:45 am departure. Is that reasonable?

11:45 will be tight - better to look for a flight after 12:30 or 1:00 to be safe.

Besides a taxi there are shuttle services (SuperShuttle, Go Airport Shuttle, and Quality Limo Services) that will make the trip for about $30+ per person, depending upon which hotel in the FLL area you are going to - you are being a smart cruiser and arriving at least one day early, correct?

The cheapest way from MIA to the Port Everglades area is a one way car rental. Good luck!

We are still kicking around our options for getting to Port Everglades. It's a 4 1/2 hour drive from the Tampa Bay area or a 1 hour flight. Decisions' date=' decisions.[/quote']

No way I'd try to fly - by the time you check in and get through security you could be half-way to FLL. By the time you land in MIA and cab or shuttle to PE you could be enjoying your first DOD. ;)

If you are off the ship with express departure then an 11:45 is doable, but I wouldn't recommend it - why rush around like a crazy person on your last day of vacation?

We just disembarked Navigator on Sunday. We left the ship at 8:30 and it only took about 15 minutes to be curbside. But friends who left at 8:45 took over an hour to get out - they had halted disembarkation because the line at immigration was too long (we could hear the announcement from the curb). Then it took another 40 minutes to get a cab to FLL. They were lucky to make their 12:45 flight. And you'll be going quite a bit further.

As for renting a car, it depends on the day whether it's a reasonably priced option. On the day we departed MIA for Port Everglades, the total cost would have been over $100, plus then you have to return the car and take another shuttle to the pier.

We used South Florida Transportation (towncar service) for $86 each way (including tip and toll) and were very happy with them. The cars were clean, the drivers prompt and courteous to friendly. Can't ask for more than that.
