CJinFLA00 Posted January 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2012 It's about a 30 minute boat trip and is in the middle of the ocean but you can wade and stand up. You can only get there by boat. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. Hope you do as well.
mrpayroll Posted January 11, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2012 Sort of a misleading title as others have said. Just a spot in the sea that the sting rays congregate. :)
junglecat Posted January 12, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2012 Have done this 3 times, all with Captain Marvin's. GREAT time.
Teechur Posted January 12, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2012 In the "middle of the ocean" is inaccurate. Sting Ray City (Grand Cayman) is located on a shallow sand bar in Back Bay, an enclosed bay, behind the narrow strand that includes 7-mile beach. Too far to walk, but just a few miles in a cab to the dock where you catch a boat to SR City. You really can't get out there without taking a boat. Well worth it!!! Have fun. JO-TRAVEL ALOT Posted January 12, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2012 My children and I went to Sting Ray City with Moby Dick tours. They are right there when you get off the ship. We were in a small group and had a nice time. It was cheaper than the ship excursion and way less people.

truchattycathy Posted January 12, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 12, 2012 The bay is no more than 12 feet deep, but StingRay City is in the middle of the bay on a sandbar and is about 4 feet deep, so you can get there by boat or jet ski. I have used NativeWay Water Sports three times and LOVE them. Check out the Grand Cayman boards for more info, but by all means do the StingRay City excursion. It is one of the best excursions out there JMHO.
