ahracer Posted April 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2005 The Coral is a great ship and the Canal is really an awesome cruise however you are not going to find much in the way of nightlife. There is still plenty to do with lounges, casino, shows but if they are looking for a hopping disco and other singles they will be disappointed most likely. Most 10 day cruises that time of year are more of an older crowd. Scott
mii Posted April 13, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2005 I was on the 10 day Coral partial transit last Feb. and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. I find the Coral to be the perfect size. Nott big or not too small. (1950 passengers). I am not sure what your daughters like. They do have nightlife(that is what I hear) Maybe someone else will come on and tell you. I know I loved the Panama Canal and the ship. But I am not 23 or 27 anymore.;) Marilyn
jhannah Posted April 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2005 I was on the same cruise as Marilyn, and frankly I thought the ship's passengers were "older" than what I generally have seen on Princess. I also think the longer cruises tend to attract an older clientele.
randyat1001 Posted April 13, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2005 We did the Coral February 04 and agree that it is a great ship and trip but an older less partying crowd. Randy
Mike2131 Posted April 14, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2005 Hi all;My husband and daughters aged 23 and 27 are thinking about the canal trip next jan. any info on the ship,s nightlife for young people this age would be appreciated-or if there is another ship that might be better. thanks a lot! We were on the 10 day partial transit in December (12/10-12/20) and the average age of our fellow cruisers was certainly 65+. I think this route and cruise length will attract an older passenger profile. That being said, the Coral is a beautiful ship and it is a great itinerary. We are mid-50s and late-40s and had a great time. We still found a lot of interesting people (younger and older) to associate with. Have a great cruise! baby Posted April 15, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2005 I was on the coral last october. Definitely an older crowd - I am in my 50's. There were some people 40&50 but not many. There is the explorer lounge which has good dj music and a good band but it is for couples only - there not any singles at all. the ship is beautiful but not for young 20's people i agree with other posters - 10 days are more for older people - we love 10 day cruises so much though - we do them instead of 7. i think you would have to do research for the girls - to get the younger people carol
TorontoTL Posted April 16, 2005 #8 Share Posted April 16, 2005 I think the Coral gets a reputation for catering to an older crowd only because of its intineraries. Because it does a 10 day Panama Canal cruise in the cooler months, it has an older crowd. If it did any other Caribbean intinerary it would have a younger crowd. Not that that bothers me. I'm going to do the Panama Canal in November on the Coral.
kendon Posted April 16, 2005 #9 Share Posted April 16, 2005 We were on during a school break this past February. My middle schoolers were among maybe 20 kids on the entire ship. Fine with us though as my boys don't join the teen group anyway. But if your kids want to socialize, this itinerary attracts an older crowd. by the way, both the ship and itinerary are fantastic. Phishinyem Posted April 17, 2005 #10 Share Posted April 17, 2005 hi- I just got off the coral. I'm 25 years old and I'd say the average age was at least 60. We were definitely one of the youngest couples on the ship. If I were going to do it over, i'd choose a larger ship like the Grand (or Royal Caribbean's adventure of the seas which I was on last year and loved). Nice cruise though. At night you'll have the whole ship to yourself!
