BAGS question

BAGS is a program on NCL where you can put your bags out the night before, and they are wisked away and you don't have to see them again until you pick them up at your home airport. NCL delivers them to the airport and gets them all checked in. Totally worth the cost, especially if you have a later flight and don't want to deal with dragging your luggage around. NCL prints your boarding passes for you too and gives them to you so you are all set.

Yes, the $19.95 is in addition to any fees that the airline charges, which will also be added to your account (regular checked bag fees that many airlines now have).

Caveats- only US disembarkation ports, only US flights, you have to have a flight after a certain time (usually around noon- it will be posted), and it's only certain airlines. Right now Southwest isn't listed on NCL's site as a participating airline, but some people have returned saying that the onboard info DID list them as participating, it just hadn't been updated on the NCL site yet. Hope this is the case.... we are flying SW out of Tampa and would love to use this service! We used it in Seattle and it was great.

I love the idea of doing this but it seems we will not be able to use the BAGS service without paying the airline fee, from which we are exempt. Not sure if it's worth an extra $90 for the two of us vs. $0 to lug it to the airport ourselves.. Has anyone with airline Elite status (therefore exempt from airline fees) used it? If nobody here has experience with it, I will likely just wait and ask onboard - although it will change what we do on our final day and whether we will rent a car or not..

We have elite status with Continental and were therefore not charged anything extra. They do it just like you would... online with your account and everything- if no charges come up (if you are elite, or have their credit card or whatever) then no charges are filed (except the $19.95 per person from NCL for their service). NCL does not get a cut of the baggage handling part that your airline tacks on... that's whatever is typical between you and your airline.

That's awesome - thanks!

I am just off the EPIC and BAGS is available for Southwest.
