pking Posted February 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2012 We will be in San Juan on Good Friday. We would like to tour the Bacardi factory, visit the forts and pick up wine before a cruise. Will any of these places be open on Good Friday 4/6/12?
RayInPR Posted February 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2012 Puerto Rico more-or-less shuts down for Good Friday. The Forts will be open, as will beaches. I doubt that Bacardi will be. Stores in OSJ may or may not be open.

MDSue Posted February 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I've spent Good Friday in downtown Old San Juan and all the major stores were open in the daytime. I'm not sure about the forts or Bacardi Factory though. There were plenty of people flying kites at El Morro on Good Friday. Sometime after dark, can't remember the exact time (maybe 9pm), there is a huge procession through town celebratrating Good Friday. I suspect that many the stores are all closed at that time for the celebration but I know some of the stores were still open. The procession went by Playa De Armes (sp?) by the Walgreens. If you are in the area, it would be worth seeing. My sister and I kind of got caught in the procession and followed along. Here are some pictures I took: The procession at night El Morro during the daytime:
#1packerfan Posted February 18, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We were there last year for the procession and it is definately worth seeing. We had a car and went to the rainforest in the morning, and even the Walmart stores were closed. We did find a grocery store in Isle Verdi open to buy some booze and some of the small stores in Old San Juan were also open as well as restaurants, but for the most part, as someone else mentioned, it pretty much shuts down.
