gratamama Posted February 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2012 Hello everyone, We are taking our first cruise as a family in April! We booked ES in December, put down the down payment. We attend a private school and they have a SCRIPTS gift certificate fundraising thing where you buy gift certificates/ cards, and $ goes back to the school for buying them that way. I paid the rest of my balance and then some using those things. Now we're all paid up and my acct says some stuff i can't understand, like our individual cruise rate is $149 (was $409 before the gift cards were put in) and "AVERAGE CRUISE RATE PER PERSON WITH NCFS" is $149. ---- Two questions - what does this mean? Have I eliminated myself from price drop opportunities because I used these?
firefly333 Posted February 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2012 NCF is the noncommionable part of the cruisefare. Some TAs break it out. I think Carnival might now show it too. Its part of the cruisefare. Seems a little over $50 port fees per port on average. TAs do not get paid commission on this part of the fare. If you add back a little over $50 per port, it should take you back to the real fare. I would doubt you can get it adjusted when you used another form of payment... but ask your TA. I read some of the posts on this subject and when you buy them sounds like someone is getting 50% of the money .. so I would say again, doubtfull that they can change the amount of money being paid to the charity/place you are donating money if the price changes. firefly333 Posted February 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2012 I did a search since I know these have been used and discussed before. Here is a thread with a few posts you might want to read. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=617959&highlight=scripts
gratamama Posted February 8, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted February 8, 2012 Thanks for that link. Sounds like maybe i have a shot at "something." When i get this resolved, i'll post with the outcome. A few days ago i put in a price drop online for resident rate ($20) and today put one in that puts the price another $100 down, but its Pack and Go, so who knows. thanks! Well, since you know the pack n go is against the rules (no downgrading, but lately they have been allowing you to give up your cabin, so it might fly). Its true they dont enforce their own rules very well. let us know, or maybe add to the other thread your information.
