Theater Lines on Island Princess

Just got off the Island Princess on a 10 day panama cruise. No NoRo on her that I could see. One big problem that I found not only unsastisfactory but potentially dangerous for some passengers.

Due to the scheduling of shows there were lines for the 8 o'clock theatre show. These lines were from the front of the theatre to the atrium and starting back the toward the theatre. The seas were slightly rough and made standnig stablity a problem for some. These lines were for all planning on going to the theatre so anyone with a balance problem or a handicap had to stand in this line. There were many elderly people on this cruise and they were required to stand in this line. Not once did we see any member of the Cruise Directors staff come and check on passengers. The only ones visible were those at the head of the line keeping people from entering the show.

This creates a very volitol situation and any sudden movement of the ship would have caused several injuries. Please be aware of this situation in the future. Scheduling shows this close together is asking for a disaster to happen. I hope that Princess realizes this ad corrects in on any other ships doing this. I think this goes to far to palcate some who want to see the shows but can not schedule thier time properly. Trouble is waiting for this type of situation.

Hmm. The one time we saw lines they escorted limited mobility passengers in first. The Asst CD actually said they could not put out chairs because of trip hazards when someone asked.

Then again, there was only the one line for an 8:15 Billy Vader showing. Everything else was walk-in with plenty of seats. Maybe demand was a bit higher on this run than they anticipated.

Saw it for the Billy Vader show and the MotoCity show. Decided not to go to the Piano Man show as I was tired of being in lines. My wife did go and said it was there also. I think it was the addition of the extra showing that was the cause of it because all ahd to wait for it to be over in order to enter for th 8:00 show. This just goes to show the need for a matinee performance of the evening show. So this way there would be say a 3:00 for some to attend.

No escort for very ederly or those not in wheel chairs. Many with canes had to wait in line. These people said they would wait like all other passengers. Bsides one of the reasons for going to the theater early was to get a seat that one wanted. Not to be rushed in at the last minute to just get any seat. That was not possible if you were in the back of the line 30 minutes before the show started.

Was a great cruise overall but this really was suprising as I had never seen this before.

How rough were the seas? We are booked for an Island cruise thru the canal next year. Will I get sea sick? I've been on 6 cruises and only got sick on the one from NYC to Canada when we went out into the Atlantic.

The seas were not "rough" per say. They were in the 1 to 3 foot range with a few white caps. The waves did cause motion to be felt through out the ship. Was just enough to cause a few passengers sea sickness problems and to make walking a little difficult for those with canes and walkers. After 20 years in the Navy they were tollerable for me but others were mentioning them alot. Made for a great night sleep.

I can not say if you will get seasick or if you will experience the same weather as we did. Hope you have as much fun on your cruise as I had on mine.
