ansjefitnes Posted February 13, 2012 #26 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Wow. Thanks for that info. I have now reprogrammed my memory banks. Now, let's apply this new info to the original question: How does the Hindu culture treat women who go out into the world without a male "protector"? Is it at all like the Muslim culture? The Hindu culture does not forbid women to out without a male. In Bali alot if not most of the young women work if they can get a job. A lot work in the hotels etc. I had a female butller on a Silversea cruise who came from Bali. Its quite a different culture.

Thanks for that info. My knowledge of Hindu culture is pretty weak, compared to Muslim culture. So, back to the point of the thread--- Then, if you see an Indonesian female working on the ship, and she has no male relative also working on the ship, ask if she is from Bali. That might explain it. Is that basicly it?
Pettifogger Posted February 13, 2012 #28 Share Posted February 13, 2012 It seems to me that one of HAL's top attractions is that it's traditional. I would not expect them to hurry to compromise that.

sail7seas Posted February 14, 2012 #31 Share Posted February 14, 2012 She is not HAL's first female Hotel Manager. There was a lady named Marcella Himmelrich who was Hotel Manager on Oosterdam.
