Ok people, let's get opinions!

Hello all,

My husband and I are fairlywell cruised and stick mostly with Princess. His 40th birthday is coming and I am thinking of giving him a cruise. Now comes the hard part. We LOVE sea days but can only go during the last 2 weeks of June and all of July 2006. I know the calendar's aren't out for that period yet but what would you recommend? It doesn't have to be Princess. In fact, a ship considered a step up would be great as long as it has a casino. He won't sail on a ship without one. Thanks in advance for your help!

Go to an exotic place . Hawaii/Tahiti (8 days at sea). Or if you are willing to travel we just did a Med. cruise last summer on the Star Princess(less days at sea ) All ships have casinos . That is how they make their revenue .

Princess RT Alaska cruises out of Seattle have a day and a half at sea at the beginning and most of a day at the end. Or you could do B2B out of Vancouver. He could skip disembarking at any port seen on the way up.

What about a transatlantic? Cunard usually does them in the summer. You could go back and forth, so you don't have to make the flight across the pond (although, you'd still have to get to NYC). Tons of sea days.

We are doing Alaska in June for the 2nd time in 3 years so that is out and we've done Tahiti and are doing Hawaii so I don't think that would thrill him though the Cunard sounds very interesting. Have you ever done it? It's a class ship, right? Do you have to book first? Keep the idea's coming. I keep ruling out the Med as there are almost no sea days doing that though I do want to see Pompei one day.

I've never sailed Cunard, but I keep seeing specials for obstructed view balcony cabins on the transatlantic sailings on the QM2 this summer. Very tempting...but we already have our 2005 cruise quota filled.

I too think the Hawaii or Transatlantic sailings have his name written all over them; what a treat for somebody who loves sea days

I also vote for the Hawaii or TransAtlantic. Either way, you can't go wrong. Let us know what you decide.

If it will be offered: 10-day roundtrip to Alaska from San Francisco. Cruise ends with 2 sea days, has 4 sea days total. Might not mesh with your timing.

 

Another one: 14 day Mediterranean, roundtrip Southampton. Begins and ends with 2 sea days, otherwise quite port intensive. This one is being done by Sea Princess this year. I hope it is offered in the future, it's about the only way I'd consider a Med cruise.

Haven't cruised on NCL in quite awhile but I think it's a real stretch to think they are a step up or even equal to Princess. June July they are the only game in town for Hawaii unless somebody knows something I don't. That wouldn't be a stretch. :D

I think the Cunard would be the right choice too if the sea days are important , but highly suggest you do one of the European cruises someday. They are with out a doubt exceptional. I was highly surprised at how much I enjoy them and just booked a third one for 2006.

 

Have fun planning the cruise and keep us posted on your choice. Crystal might have some options for you too.

Hi all,

Well the 10 day Alaska is out as we are doing it in June of this year and the 15 day Hawaii is out as wedo that in December. The only European cruise we've ever done ( so far) is the Norweign Fjords last year on the Royal. I'm going to look into Cunard though he might not like it if it's too stuffy. I also like the idea of the Sea Princess with 4 sea days. That would allow us to do the Med! Keep the idea's coming as I need help :D
