Day Four - St. Thomas, USVI

Today we woke up to the beautiful sight of St. Thomas all around the ship! We traversed up to the Lido Deck and ate at The Gathering for a quick bite, then walked around the deck to get a view of the island. I must say, it's quite impressive, and reminds me of the photos I have seen of European cities along the Mediterranean. Gorgeous island for sure! Wish I had been up for the sunrise when we docked! :(

Took a nice photo of the ship when we debarked. Wow is she ever massive!

Since we had no real plans for St. Thomas, we decided to walk along the waterfront to the downtown to check out the shops, and local culture. The walk is quite long, and was incredibly warm that day at the temperatures were in the 30's (celsius) and there is no real forms of shade along the walk. Along the waters edge on some rocks were these friendly fellows, taking in a few rays!

We made it there in one piece, and checked out all of the cool shops, and my father and I each got a St. Thomas t-shirt to remember our voyage there! After that, my mum, brother and I decided to catch a quick open aired taxi back to the ships (which be warned, don't go until they're literally jam packed!) as my dad wanted to walk back. We were back on board to hit The Gathering for another great lunch, and then a day of fun in the sun on board the amazing Carnival Dream.

I decided to go up to the top decks, (around the Serenity I found the best viewings of the island) in order to get some photos to remember our visit. The island is incredibly photogenic, and it's hard to take a bad photo of it! I snapped a few quick ones, and then went to try some of the day's desserts, before going back to the cabin in the afternoon for a quick nap.

Continued

Just before dinner, I decided to run up to the top deck to get a few photos of the ship in St. Thomas before we sailed away. The sun was already pretty much set, and the island looked amazing in the dark! Although it was hard to get the proper setting on the camera for the best photo, I did get a few (one of which is below) before heading down to another great dinner!

At dinner, I decided to order the Wild Mushroom Cream Soup as my starter, which I must say was very good. With some bread, the soup is definitely a great way to start dinner. For my main course, I just had to have the lasagna, which was good, but very rich.

Before going to bed, I think I took this photo just beside the mini-golf course. Can't remember when I took it, but I was just looking to get a shot of the ship during her sailing.

Now, there's a story behind the next photo. As I was taking pictures of us leaving, all of a sudden I saw smoke starting to come up the deck towards me. At first I was confused and thought the ship was on fire, so being the incredibly smart person I am, I decided to walk towards it! Thankfully, it was just a lazer light show, which was fun to watch. It wasn't too windy, so most of the smoke remained in the general vicinity, giving the optimal viewing of the show. Tried to get some photos of it, and only a few turned out, but not to the best of my expectations.

Great review keep it coming doing the same itinerary in Oct. and am also glad someone has posted Eastern Caribbean.

Does the ship rock as much as people say?

Thanks for all your great info.:)

Honestly, I don't think the ship rocks all that much. There was one night when it was rocking noticeably, but we also had to speed up to get to St. Thomas early for the passenger on board who needed medical assistance. Plus, it was incredibly windy, with gusts up to 83km/h during the night. All of the other nights were fine though. And I should add; the one night with the rocking I didn't even feel slightly sick, which was a surprise to me, as on our previous cruise I felt incredibly sea sick on one of the nights the boat was rocking, around the same amount.

Great review so far and wonderful pictures.

Thank you! :)
