I just got back from Victory Cruise and got burned at the casino. Anyone ever win? I have to say the dealers were great but some of them didn't really know what was going on which was surprising, especially on the craps table

This was my frist cruise so I don't have anything to compare the water conditions to. It was kind of rocky though, there were several people on the ship that thought it was more rocky than usual. It didn't seem to bother me. well if anyone hits up the casino on Victory look out for Kamilla from Slovokia, she was the only one that busted on blackjack

Kiely, was just curious overall how you found the Victory, I am going on my 1st cruise next March ... What type of cabin did you have? I have booked a CAT11 thought I might as well go almost all out for the 1st one!! Would like an info you have on the Victory that you care to share not many threads on here that I have noticed so far about the Victory...

Thx in advance

The Cruise was amazing. Since it was my frist, we booked a balcony Cat 9 and then got upgraded to Cat 11, room#7243... Thank God! My friends didn't get bumped up so they still had the regular balcony. I have to say the cat 11 suite is soooooooo much better. I couldn't imagine not staying in one next time I cruise. The Steward was the best, room was super clean. The food was great. The Irish Bar was a great time, have to check that at. I really don't have any negative comments about the cruise. Intersting story though, the last night of sailing some kids threw deck chairs overboard, the cruise had to send little boats out to get them and the parents were then fined $20,000. in the morning. Talk about a bill. Make sure you bring enough cash with you to. I found I didn't and had to keep taking money against my sail and sign. Are you doing Western or Eastern?

I did eastern carribean as well, when you get o San Juan Puerto Rico, it's going to be around 5pm right? Have to go to Senor Frogs. it was a blast! People of all ages were there just having a good time.People from 18 to 54 tearing it up like rockstars

Yup its around 5pm when we arrive in San Juan,, I will definitely check that place out. I was just on travelocity site checking out the rooms and I noticed you were on the starboard side, our cabin in alittle more to the middle of the ship on the port side. As per that site says only 1 state room available for the cruise,, should be a good time.. How was the weather I noticed you travelled about a month after in April were the seas choppy, and how was the sea sickness factor with the rocking up that high on the ship? Another question for ya how do you manage to get an upgrade just curious wondering if they would upgrade us to a penthouse LOL never hurts to ask I spose...

Since I had no idea what to expect about the rockiness of the boat I thought I was going to get sick, but I didn't . it was rocky though. I guess it's just going to effect some people and not others. The room location didn't really matter as far as feeling the boat rock. Our friends were a level down on upper deck and in the middle of the boat and it was just as rocky. The weather in San Juan sucked. It was raining and cloudy but it didn't matter b/c you don't get there until 5pm and we went straight to the bar so, for having bad weather once on the trip, it couldn't have been at a better time. St. Maarten and St. Thomas, were ridiculously nice. I actually wasn't expecting it to be as hot as it was. I actually had to find cover by the time we got to St. Thomas. Magena's Bay in St. Thomas was beautiful. Just make sure you have an idea of where you want to go when you get to the ports. None of us had ever been to those places so we had no idea where to go. There are so many beaches to check out. We tried to listen to other people's converstations on the best spots to go but we always seemed to miss the part of the conversation where they actually named it.

As far as getting upgraded, we have no idea how it happened, we just happened to check our itinerary one day and noticed a different room cabin. Thank God! well any other questions just let me know. I did seem to babble

Babbling is ok gives me all kinds of info that I know will be useful.. Did you fly into miami and stay at a hotel before the cruise or did you arrive the day of.. As I mentioned in my previous post to sallyb I will be staying in Miami pre and post cruise so I am on the hunt for a half decent hotel/motel preferably with shuttle service to and from the airport and the port. Any ideas ?? Also I was curious I have read some posts regarding bringing alcohol on board I was thinking of bringing a case of Corona did you bring anything on board and if so .. hows the size of the fridge?

I flew into Miami the night before the cruise, our hotel wasn't great, the chelsea on washington ave, but we didn't want to spend alot of money either so you get what you pay for. We took a cab from the airport to washington ave and it was only $7.00 per person for 4 people, i don't know if they charge by person , but it seemed that way, b/c they didn't have meters running in the cab so they might charge by zone and number of occupants.. again, the same price from hotel to the port. I thought about bringing alcohol on board but we didn't b/c it wasn't that big of a deal. I wouldn't bring beer though, it's a waste of space, if you want to bring something make it a bottle. For the whole trip the average the 4 of us spent on alcohol was approx. $300. and we're pretty big drinkers, that's everyday drinking starting around 2pm-3am. I mean the beer was $3.74 which includes gratuity and a mixed drink was like $5.00...they have drink specials everyday and they also had some happy hours as well. when you get to St. Maarten and St. Thomas, you can get beer for a buck(fabulous i might add), so save the space in your suitcase. Oh yeah one last thing, check out Jerry's famous Deli in miami, it's great, not a regular deli but it's a restraunt. people will know where it is if you ask.

also, the fridge is already stocked with thier stuff(mini bar) so it's hard to put anything in there

When doing a cruise out of Miami check to see the difference in price to fly in and out of Fort Lauderdale (FLL) sometimes we can save hundreds of dollars by doing that.

Casino slots were very lose in the begining- espeically the ones located by the exit. My mom won on both the Sensation and the Victory 2500.00 each time.

Hot tubs located in the gym / spa area are very nice/very relaxing. Kids under 16 are not allowed in there so its peaceful.

I know that it will probably be cheaper for me to fly through Fort Lauderdale, but does anyone know if the cruise line offers lickups at FLL? Or, maybe it's better to take the Trirail from FLL to the Miami airport- on the website, it said that weekend fares between the airports is something like under $5 a person.

Any suggestions?

I won $125 on a slot machine at the end of the cruise.

Cruise lines do have shuttles that run from FLL to Miami- for a fee based per person. If there is more then 2 people then a car service is your cheaper way to go. We rented a stretch limo for 6 adults for 33. pp round trip.

A taxi will cost 75.00 one way.

Tri rail may be cheap but it is not always available for the times that you may need it. You will be carrying your luggage from the airport to the train terminal and at the end you still need to take a taxi from the end of the line in Miami to the pier to catch your ship.

I only play slots cuz I've never learned any of the cards etc... I've won $250 on a $10 investment on quarters machines, and $150 and $75 on maybe $5 investment on nickle machines... of course I always stop playing when I hit it "big" lol.
