Oceanview minisuite

My parents had one on Baja deck/Coral a few years back (we had a cat BE same trip.) Very nice, if you can live without the veranda. The only thing they didn't like was being so far forward, they felt more motion in rough seas than they were used to (usually pick mid-ship.) And one morning at Grand Cayman they thought the ship hit something but it was actually the anchor being released. It's pretty loud in those cabins. But they liked the extra space, and being close to the buffet and the open deck all the way forward on Baja.

Cheers,

Kirsten

I had C204 on the Coral and absolutely loved it! It was an upgrade but if I could afford to, I'd book it again with no hesitation. There's an enormous amount of space because the cabin is inclusive of the square footage that's the balcony in the other minisuites. And the bed was the comfy-est I've ever had on Princess.

The location was perfect -- right by the doors to the forward deck, so handy for Canal day. And being by the forward stairs/lifts is more convenient on this ship, in terms of getting to the HC, the Wheelhouse, and the uncovered pool. It was very quiet location, even despite being nearly opposite a cross hallway with a steward work station, I never heard a peep of sound. I did hear a little noise up from the theatre one afternoon but only in the hallway, not in my cabin. I personally love motion, so can't speak to noticing it one way or another, although I have to say I expected more than I felt. Of course, that's the luck of the draw sea-conditions-wise.

Only bad thing: it's a very long trek to the laundry room(s) aft. Plan your route carefully. Take provisions. And a sherpa.

Thanks for the review! We're in the exact same stateroom come Oct. Did you notice a lot of traffic there on canal day with people going out to the deck for viewing? Did the opening / closing of the doors disturb you? (My DD is a light sleeper and just worried about that).

No, I couldn't hear a thing. The doors are (mind you, this is a very rough guess) about 10-15 feet away from the cabin door of C204 and the inner one did not slam shut the way some of the outer doors do; plus, by the time you add in the "foyer hallway" in the cabin itself, no sound traveled to the bed that I ever heard. I was definitely not the first one awake and outside, either, and I never heard a peep from the people walking by and going in/out. Nor did I hear anything on any other port day (the doors were open every day we were in port, and all night when we were anchored off Puerto Amador).

Anyway, she shouldn't be sleeping in on Canal day -- I'm a notoriously non-morning person and even I was up at 5am!

LOL - DD typically wakes at 6am so "sleeping in" is a foreign concept in our household. :)

Did you ever have trouble with hearing the anchor drop when coming to port? I've heard some people complain about this with a FWD location room.

Thanks!

Hi there, We are considering Coral C202 (minisuite window) on our 7 night Alaska Whittier to Vancouver this July 2013. $200 more than regular balcony. We do not mind motion and generally like forward cabins. Also the extra space would compensate for no balcony. Questions: 1) Overall would C202 be as good as C204? 2) there were a two comments from other cruisers about noise from the theater shows at night and during rehearsals - what was your experience? 3) was the window cleaned periodically to enable you to see out. Did the window size feel adequate for such a large mini? 3) Was there alot of noise from the exit door to the viewing deck- slamming, squeaking, people etc? The extra room is a real draw and need to weigh the pros and cons. Nice to have options and whatever we end up with will be amazing. Thanks in advance.
