Leaving New Orleans 5/8, lot of Questions? Thank You!

Recommended Posts

Just two years ago our large group made the drive from Kansas City to New Orleans. This was an easy drive since in the past we have driven to Clearwater, Florida for vacations. The drive was approximately 17 or 18 hours. We stayed in a hotel in the Quarter and walked around everywhere all day and at night. We drove our cars to the parking lot at the pier and walked to the boat. We never had any trouble anywhere. We also cruised on Conquest and had a super time. Marcia

When you disembarked, what time was it and how did this work with check-in time for the hotel? Most hotels have a check-in late in the afternoon. We are thinking of a post night stay but wondered about the 'off the ship at 9-10'..'check-in at 2 or 3' problem.

Most hotels will allow you to check your luggage so you are free to explore the city until your room is ready. Lots of interesting things to see in do in New Orleans. Hope you enjoy your visit there. :D

We are staying at the holiday Inn convention center on May 15th. For $139 you get 7 days free parking, continental breakfast, free shuttle ride with baggage check-in to the cruise terminal, free shuttle rides to the French Quarter and Harrahs Casino. The HI is about 3 blocks from the terminal.

Newcruiser,

We are staying at the Holiday Inn Select in June.. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this hotel when you get back!

StaceyM, are you staying at the Holiday Inn Select by the airport? If so, that's a nice hotel, indoor pool, etc., although a good distance from the ship.

No we are staying at the Holiday Inn Select Convention Center, across from the port. In fact, we are hoping to roll our luggage over there to avoid the traffic. They have a rate of $129.00 which includes parking for the week. I have read mixed reviews on this hotel and would love to her from someone who has stayed there recently.

We did this last December. The limo had a huge crack in the window and it was really dusty inside. Also the area outside the hotel was a little scary. My husband had problems with a homeless man while on his way to Wendy's across the street. Just a heads up. I personally thought the place had character, but other people in our party didn't like it. It was $5 or $7 a day to park there. It seemed very secure. Take Care!!

Silly as this sounds, you just made my day saying there's a Wendy's across the street!! :p Even on vacation, I crave the Chicken BLT salad :o
