Hotels between Houston and Galveston

I don't necessarily have to stay in Houston or Galveston. I'm driving down from Dallas and would like to crash somewhere in the middle. Does anyone know the cities or hotel names on that stretch of 45?

 

I'm not familiar with that side of Houston but I'm sure there are numerous hotels on 45 as you head towards Galveston.

I've found out that if you stay in Galveston many of the hotels offering free cruise parking - they let you leave your car in their lot. Although they charge ridiculously high prices for Sat night stay's, you end up saving money by not having to use the port parking lot. If you want a hotel in a specific location - I would suggest doing an internet search at one of the travel sites - yahoo, expesia, hotels.com, etc.

Galveston is within an hour of Houston & the hotels are very reasonably priced. We drive from the Dallas area & stay in Galveston. That way, we're close to the pier in the morning & don't have to rush.

What about Kemah? It's a great place to eat and walk around...fun shops etc...really a pretty area...you'd only have about a 30 minute drive to the port...
