violetta58 Posted June 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2012 Unfortunately the weather in Southampton is wet and cloudy.News is the Red Arrows are not flying ,shame but fireworks will hopefully go ahead. QM2 is looking as good as ever and there is a jolly atmosphere aboard. Boarding was a bit slow but was in board for 12.45 and just opening the champagne !!:)

Ray66 Posted June 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2012 That's a shame about the Red Arrows. I think the firework display is due to start about now. it looks like the QM2 is on the move now looking at the bridgecam.

Bon Voyage! :) Fireworks just finished and we were able to watch them from our balcony as QM2 was the nearest to the fireworks.Very loud and due to the drizzle weather a bit misty but good fun with suitable music over the loud speakers and lots of little boats all around us.Loads of union jack flags !!Now leading the procession out to sea. Will try and put photos on later. southwestie Posted June 5, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 5, 2012 we watched from up on deck, the fireworks were a little misty dur to the weather, the music was amazing, then the whistles went off from QM2, QV and then QE and they went mad, it kept southampton awake, the we on QM2 lead the QV and then the QE out to sea, union flags and everyone dressed up in flags and red white and blue, what an event, up on deck we and the other two ships all sang God save the queen together, very special, very moving

southwestie Posted June 6, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 6, 2012 It was great on the ship (qm2), fireworks were marred a touch by the weather, wet and very low cloud. its amazing on board. as we sailed past the other 2 ships you see thousands of people everywhere in the rain, cold etc, wonderful and 1000s of small boats all along the sail a way route. My love of the ship spurred to book another TA for 2014, decided to the winter crossing at last
violetta58 Posted June 8, 2012 Author #11 Share Posted June 8, 2012 Just leaving Zeebrugge in a force 10 wind which has been with us all day.Qm2 had 2 tugs and thruster on all day to hold us at the dock. They don't want a repeat of 2009 which I witnessed when the ships stern hit the dock!!
