NCL Tracy Arm Excursion - Whales?

Been debating between a couple of excursion options in the morning before Jewel leaves Juneau at 1:30. I had originally planned to rent a van and sight see on our own, but now considering a whale watching trip. My question is, does the Tracy Arm trip that leaves Juneau right before the Jewel run across whales very often? If so, problem solved. I remember years ago I went to Tracy Arm and there were so many whales on the way back that we arrived back in Juneau 3 hours late (it wasn't a cruise trip, so no problem).

Anyone who has done this trip come across whales?

I have seen humpbacks on most of my Tracy Arm excursions. But they are no where in the amount, nor time of viewing as the whale watches out of Juneau. I do both. IF all you are looking for is a "look" then likely you will get this.
