Costa Magica

I am interested in booking a cruise on Costa Magica. I tried looking at reviews, but there are none here from this here. Can anyone give any comments please? I would especially like to know if smoking is permitted on all deck or only on one side, and if it is allowed in restaurants and bars. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

  • smoking is allowed in your cabin (regardless of which side)
  • smoking is allowed on your balcony (regardless of which side)
  • NOT allowed in any restaurant
  • NOT allowed in almost all the bars now - probably be just one where it is permitted
  • smoking is allowed in the casino (at least parts)

check the costa website. remember these things change constantly.

On NeoR smoking was allowed in all bars except the disco and the wine/cheese bar - both main show lounges had smoking areas - VERY well ventilated and kept all down to one side in both lounges.

I thought most Costa ships had smoking areas in a number of bars, not just one.

Found this info (I too looking at Magica)

Public Rooms:

There are 5,652 vases, sculptures, original canvases and prints aboard, most by the Milan-based Brera Academy of Fine Art's students and professors. But it may take you a while to notice, given that Joe Farcus, who isn't exactly shy about demanding your attention, designed the ship's interior. The ship's layout can be a bit of a challenge.

The Grand Bar Salento, amidships on Deck 5, has the largest bar and dance floor at sea. Given the Europeans' predilection for rug-cutting, it could be twice its size and still be crowded whenever there's music in the air! The Deck 5 promenade offers high-end clothing, logo items, perfume, jewelry, duty-free, baubles, and gimcracks in stores surrounding the Italia Magica Atrium, itself a pleasant spot to sip a cocktail while watching the glass-enclosed elevators ascend.

The three-story Urbino Theatre, at the bow, featuring a Murano glass chandelier, presents nightly shows. Aft on Deck 5 are three lounges: the Capri Lounge, which evokes the Blue Grotto; the gloriously smoke-free Spoleto Lounge; and the delightful Capo Piano Bar, tucked into a corner at the aft end of the Sicily Casino, with banks of slot machines on the starboard side and tables on the port side.

Deck 4 has the Internet Center, with trendy Italian-designed chairs that are too low for the computer stations. The good news is that the internet is only 25 cents per hour, which is a bargain on any cruise ship these days. The Grado Disco, which roars at night yet will be deserted by day except when being used for Pilates sessions, is adjacent. There's also a small chapel and a quiet, attractive library on Deck 4.

In theory, smoking is allowed only in certain places and not at all in the main theatre or in any of the dining venues, including the enclosed aft pool on the Lido Deck, but the policy isn't strictly enforced.

on allegra and europa it was only allowed in one - and part of the casino.

We were on Magica last year and had a great time. There were lots of different bar areas as well as the theatre so always something to suit, from ballroom/latin type dancing (atrium), man playing guitar, man playing grand piano, self contained disco, back lounge usually disco/live band with dancing and some crazy games + main bar/lounge with live band and entertaiment staff.

Just go with an open mind, the italians are crazy people and love dancing and joining in all the games and activities so it's a party atmosphere every night.

We all like the dancing waiters - look on youtube - they made out holiday.

Yes, pizza is free of charge.

Up to nine in the evening it´s pizza slices in self-service, afterwards until about midnight you can choose from a pizza menu which offers 4 different kinds of pizza every night, the pizza is then made for you and brought to your table.
