Is there a way to tell how full the ship is?

I am hoping that our ship is notover crowded and was wondering if there is anyway to know how booked a cruise is?

 

We sail aug 5 on the splendor.

Most times - you think 3,000 people and 2k crew, that you would be bumping into people literally and constantly

 

it just isn't so on the 4 ships we've been on

 

just congested at meal time and pool access on sea days

 

I dont believe there is a way to tell --- but from reasearch -- MOST do not sail less than 90-95% full

 

Some give last min deals to locals to the port so they fill up

 

Most profits are on the booze -- the more drinkers - the more profit!

Your ship will sail full except for the few no shows and the few cabins that may need maintaince. Prices are always lowered as embarkation gets closer to fill unsold cabins.

Most ships sail at about 104% of capacity.

 

Normal capacity is the number of cabins times 2 guests, and that is 100% full. Maximum capacity is a higher number based on the number of spaces in lifeboats and life rafts.

 

100% capacity on splendor is 2,142 guests. Maximum capacity is 2,680 guests.

 

There can be a large number of empty cabins if there are a lot of triples and quads. Never pay attention to the number of empty cabins, pay attention to the number of people.

 

You can expect about 2300 guests on your sailing.

We were just on the Dream, Passenger Capacity 3646 we set sail with 4400 passengers. It really showed up at lunchtimes on sea days. :eek:

You are so right about them giving last minute deals to locals. We had the worst experience sailing out of San Juan! The locals were so rude and out of control that everyone in our group complained and vowed never to sail out of San Juan again.
