Allergies on ships

Anyone ever report a problem with mold on the ships? Need to know about moldy carpeting or issues related to these allergies before I book a cruise. Has anyone heard about them?

Thanks for your help. I am worried about booking a cruise on an older ship.

You are posting on NCL, and I didn't have an issue on my one NCL cruise. However, I will say we suspected a mold/mildew issue on our Carnival cruise. It was an older ship (Elation), and we were on the lowest floor. It felt really dank in the cabin, like nothing really dried. I didn't smell or see mold or mildew, but both my husband and I had terrible allergies to the point we were both snoring all night and waking up very congested.

Did not have this issue on NCL or HAL, but those were all balcony rooms.

I'm not sure I would recommend a cruise for someone with severe allergies. Unlike a land based cruise, if something on the ship triggers those allergies you can't just pack your bags and go somewhere else. I've never had problems, but have seen others post with issues. It's almost impossible to know ahead of time.
