Cruise Parking in New Orleans?

Recommended Posts

Have heard good and..."OK" things about Fulton. It is close by and it is cheaper by $4-$5 a day. The only negative I heard is that getting back to the parking garage may not be as quick as you might like.

That being said, we parked at the port (Erato lot) last month when we cruised the Elation.

Hi,

We sail on the Elation in Sept. Is the garage available for the guests on the Elation or does the Conquest take it all? You said you parked in the Erato lot? Is that the same lot as the one with the Dolphins painted on the wall?:confused: How much was it for the Elation? $90? Thanks in advance.

That was exactly what we were finding out. If they had a park an cruise rate, it was very high. If they didn't have that package they wanted anywhere from $10 up to as much as $20 a day to park. That's why I was looking for the garages. Then I stumbled on the Quality Inn so I jumped on that deal I plan on using that motel again in December and again next April

With you being from NO I'd prolly use the garage to. But I'm already spending about $400 in gas just to get there, then you add the motel, it adds up quick

Jeez, what are you driving? A tank?:D We live in St Louis, MO and its 670 miles to the terminal from South St Louis County? We can get there on 2.5 tanks of gas. The whole trip will cost about $150 in gas. Parking is $90 (I believe) Hotel is $100. Food $100 (give or take) Still cheaper to drive than fly to NOLA.

@Bike

The parking at the port is $14 per day. There are more than one parking areas; check your documents for the Erato or the Julia terminal.

Edit: Just read that parking increased to $16

Nitro. I would grab the $11 a day. If you had to, you could walk to the Fulton garage from the terminal if your bags had wheels. I can't stand waiting around for a shuttle after the cruise. Don't you wait in line enough on the cruise?:eek: After the trip, I am ready to load up and roll out asap. Give me self-assist and I'm gone.

Thanks for the quick response. Do they consider a 5 night cruise is worth 6 days of parking or 5 days of parking?

@bike1974

I have driven a tank, howitzer to Ne exact, that would be much more than $400. But I am taking a Tahoe with 6 people and all their luggage I might get 14 mpg. I will have about the same miles from Springfield It all depends on gas prices to But if you can make it on $75 each way then your not driving a Tahoe or any other SUV. $75 won't fill my tank once

Are you staying in Gretna? That hotel offers roundtrip transportation to and from the hotel, Parking, your room, as well as a free breakfast in your rate. Let me know if you'd like their info, I sent it to someone last night. They offer a great package at a great price.

FYI to those staying at the Holiday Inn, they offer transportation to the port, but not back to the hotel.

We bought the parking package at the Holiday Inn Superdome this past March. THe shuttle that takes you to the port will pick you up for a additional fee. It was $6 pp. Got to the port quickly, but waited a hour and 45 minutes to be picked back up. Then we were packed into the shuttle like sardines with standing room only.

The parking lot on Erato St is for the cruiseport and takes everyone as long as there is space available - trying to remember if there were dolphins on the wall but to be honest, I didn't notice. Probably too excited to get on the ship, lol!

And it was $16 per day, IIRC - $80 up front

Another vote for parking at the pier. One tidbit I always tell my friends is to park on the 2nd floor and above. You never know when Nawlins will flood. Call me paranoid, but that's one of the many lessons Katrina taught me:) My sister lives in the Garden District and I'm parking there in November, but my keys will be with her just in case!

Thanks everyone for your tips and suggestions. I didn't realize that there was parking above the cruise terminal. Well probably go with the erata garage for convenience.

Yes I would have loved to have done one of those hotel & parking package deals, but none are available right now. Right now Nola is practically sold out everywhere do to the essence music festival going on this weekend. The closest place we could find that was available when we made our reservations that was not a roach motel or extremely overpriced (harrahs casino $550 per night) was in lulling, la.

The dolphins people refer to are blue whales by wyland and that is known as the whale lot. It is where Royal, NCL, and any Carnival overflow park.

That's prolly what sorta threw me - isn't that the oversized parking lot on Julia/Poydras? The escalators to the Riverwalk Mall is where this pix was prolly taken.....

So, its $80 for the 5 night Elation cruise in the garage. Thanks. Well worth to be able to get off the ship, get in the car and go!!
