LandlockedCruiser01 Posted July 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 4, 2012 I've seen alligators in Everglades. They mostly lie around in one spot or slowly swim around in the water. The airboat tour is really nice; you ride around through a marsh with grasses, trees, and wildlife. There's also an area where a ranger performs with alligators and a reptile zoo. I did it through Carnival, as a post-debarkation excursion with an airport transfer. Strongly recommended.

ragtiki2004 Posted July 4, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 4, 2012 Did an Everglades tour at Holiday Park. Believe they have a website, very good. Bob:)
gymbomb Posted July 16, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2012 We did the Everglades air boat tour through Princess as a post-cruise excursion in March. We saw 2 alligators and lots of other animals on the tour, then there's the alligator show after the boat tour with opportunities to see alligators close up and get photos with them. bills blasters Posted July 16, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 16, 2012 We did ours at Holiday Park. Saw quite a few alligators. The boat gets up close and too personal. Got some great pictures. Claudia
michmike Posted July 17, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2012 The airboat tours can be fun, but not always a sure thing seeing gators. On the other hand, if you have a car and want to drive along allligator alley (the old US 41), you will periodically see cars pulled off to the side and you'll invariably see that they are watching gators. There is a rest stop / road side park on the north side of the road, about 5 miles east of the road that goes down to everglades city and there are almost always gators swimming in the river there. Was just recently a story in the news where an airboat operator was apparently trying to feed an alligator by hand and the gator bit off his hand. They came back and killed the gator and retrieved his hand, but I didn't hear if reattachement was successful. as troy landry says... CHOOT 'EM!!! miamiyogi Posted July 17, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 17, 2012 I didn't hear if reattachement was successful. Captain Wally lost his hand. There's a reason why you never never never never feed a Gator. But they do like Marshmallows for some strange reason.
