I just booked the Diamond Princess SB for August 12, 2006, with a pre cruise tour on August 6. I'm so excited about this cruise, as I've been wanting to do it now for 3 years. I also got an aft cabin, which makes me doubly happy!!! :D

Anyone else booked?????

We're booked 8/6/06 RT Seattle on the Norwegian Star. We waited for Princess to come out with their 2006 Alaska itineraries and it was disappointing for us that they have the Diamond and Sapphire doing the North/South next year. When I called they said they would probably use the Sun and Dawn for the RT Seattle - so we booked with Norwegian.

We prefer the SB itinerary on Princess and would like to try the Sapphire or Diamond, but we are taking the 2 grandsons this time and the extra $ for air was a consideration.

The Norwegian Star looks like it will be good for the boys and we are happy on just about anything that floats. The freestyle cruising should work well with 10 & 12 yr olds too.

Alaska is awesome and we are excited about going back. It was our first cruise itinerary and we fell in love with Alaska and with cruising.

I'm so excited about this cruise too. It will be our first time there & just can't wait to go. Hope we fall in love with Alaska, as you have done.

Will also be on this board alot, for the next 15 months, asking loads of questions.

We booked several weeks ago on the Star. We wanted a balcony room on the aft. We got 9238!!!! We are so excited......now the wait!!!! In between we are going to Disneyland this Sept 3!!!!! We are from Minn. so will be bringing jeans, long & short shirts, vests and a waterproof light jacket, hat, gloves. Also a few pair of shorts, tops, and bathing suits. Were hoping to be in the hot tub to view the glaciers!!!!! Im thinking for inside for dinners we will wear summer clothes, light blazers, slacks maybe a long cotton dress. Anyone have other ideas for dinner, would love to hear.

Which tour did you take? We are planning on going in Aug. 2006. We want to take a tour first but can't decide. We love the Diamond but our travel agent is trying to talk us into the Celebrity Summit. We want to make sure we get the Tundra Wilderness tour. This is so hard!!!

Debbie, my DH wanted an escorted tour, so we're doing 19E. It's considered a 14 day cruise/tour. This tour does the Tundra Wilderness tour, 2 PM-10PM, which is 8 hrs. long. It also includes other tours & most of your food. The only time we have to plan optional excursions, is when we're in Mt. Mckinley. We've never been on the Diamond before. I thought we'd be cruising on the Coral/Island, but the schedule changed for next year, & they leave on a Monday. The Diamond is a Saturday departure, which we wanted. Knowing that we we're going on the Diamond, I just had to book an Aft cabin. That's why I booked as soon as I possibly could. Had to get the exact cabin I that I wanted, with no upgrades.

Minette, there are 8 of us going and we want an escorted tour. Can't find 19E in my book. We went on the Diamond in 2004. It was our first time to cruise. We would love to sail her again. It's great that she's taking this route now.

Debbie, my TA told me they changed the number of the tour from 16E this yr( which was a 15 day cruise/tour, to 19E in 2006 ( which is now 14 days. Princess took away an extra day in Anchorage. If you go into the Princess website, plan your voyage section & put in your info, you will come up with this tour & many others for 2006. BTW the Princess 2006 brochure is not even out yet. Had to figure out everything using 2005's brochure, which wasn't easy.

Let me know what you finally decide to do.

Booked for Carnival Spirit, Glacier Bay, May 10-17. :) Cannot wait....

Actually slightly "depressed" right now, knowing I'm a year out and there's one cruising at this moment.

Minette, Well I think we have decided to do the 11 day 10 night tour. Now we are deciding which date in Aug. and that will help decide the ship. The majority wants their Diamond back so who knows. Yes it is hard doing with 2005 brochures but the guy at Princess said the Tundra tour is so popular that you need to book early. Thanks for your information. Who knows maybe we'll be on the same ship at the same time.

My husband and I are booked on the Island Princess Southbound 06-05-06. We have a balcony cabin on the Caribe deck port side!!! This is in celebration of our 25th anniversary and we have been planning to do this for a few years now!! This is our first Alaska cruise and we are both very excited. Lots of time to wait, but I will pass the time "cruising" the boards and planning for the trip. Right not we are planning to arrive in Anchorage 3-4 days before we leave. Not sure if we will head north to Denali or south to Kenai penninsula. Fortunately for me, I like the planning almost as much as the trip - lol.
