Which beach is prettier and do you take a taxi to it? How much does the taxi ride cost? I don't want to take a bus because we are only there form 7am to 2pm and I don't want to waste any time getting there. What's your recommendations?

Thanks for your help! Crunch captain

Of the two, Rose Island Is the prettier, however, Rose Island, which is a pristine private island with no infrastructure, is a 30-40 minute boatride out to the island, It can only be accessed by day trips, you will not have time to do a trip on your current itinerary.

Cabbage Beach is a beautiful stretch of beach on Paradise Island, Atlantis, RIU and Ocean Club line the beach, although there is more unspoiled beach to walk.. as well as a public access area. To reach the public walkway, you can either take a cab ($8 for 2ppl plus $1 toll) and direct the driver to drop you at the entrance, or you can take the Ferry boat for $3pp, which will drop you at Paradise Dock, and you can walk along Casino Drive, past the Atlantis and RIU to the access point. This walk should take about 7-10 minutes, and is on a slight incline. Most of the walk is along the path of souvenier shops, deli', restaurants etc, so it's quite a nice walk. Cabbage Beach was named one of the World Most beautiful beaches a few years back. The beach is sandy white with some rough water at times. YOu can rent a chair, but there are no restrooms or amenities.

Cable Beach ... however is calmer waters, You can access the beach thru the Nassau Beach Hotel or Wyndham. Cable Beach is a long stretch of white sandy beach, gin colored waters and a view of smaller islands and cays in the area.

You can use the chaises, restrooms, bar service and grills at the hotels. Bring your own towel. To get to Cable Beach, either take a cab. ($12 for 2pp) or take the #10 jitney ($1) from downtown to the cable Beach hotels. The Jitney stop is located across the street from the British Colonial hilton at the Mc Donalds. Jitneys run back and forth every few minutes til 6pm.

Here's a a couple of links to the tours that goes to Rose Island.

http://www.bahamasvacationguide.com/seaislandadventures.html

http://www.majesticholidays.com/tours/excursiont/excursiont.htm (Robinson Crusoe)

The Barefoot Cruise and Flying Cloud both stop at Rose Island, but they are mainly a snorkeling tours that moor off the island.

Rose Island really is very rustic.. not much in the way of facilities. A really rustic bathroom and outdoor shower. You'll feel like your stranded on Robinson Crusoes island. No roadways, just pathways thru the trees.

Hammocks, chaises and kayaks available thru Sea Island.. but not available thru the other tours.
