Local bar near port

New Orleans has lots of great bars, but nothing much happens during the day. No music.

If you just want to have a quick pop before boarding you can, as the previous poster suggested, get a drink from one of the bars in the Riverwalk, find a table on the balcony overlooking the river, and watch the ships go by.

There is also Fulton Street that has Gordon Bierch Brewery, Grand Isle Restaurant, Ernst Cafe, Manning's Restaurant and Ruth Chris Steakhouse. They all have nice inside bars and patio bars and are open for lunch. It is a nice area to people watch, it is a pedestrian roadway, no cars.

Pull up Fulton Street Square, I hope this helps!

I would also suggest Lucy's on Tchoupitoulas. The last time I was there, if you drank a shot of tequila with the worm they gave you a free t-shirt.

We're staying right across the street at the Renaissance Hotel. I'm looking forward to going to Lucy's...but I think I'll skip the worm. :p
