Cabin questions

Hi, I have been scouring the boards but decided finally to come and ask.

We are deciding among three options - decks 4, 5, or 8.

Deck 8 obstructed view midship. It sits on top of karaoke, etc.

Deck 4 has a porthole only. The issue with deck 3 is what is below us?

I think deck 3 is where people get on and off making it potentially noisy??

Deck 5 - well it is below the casino.

Anyone have any suggestions. We are going the budget route and can't do aft on 8, which you might recommend. :cool:Thanks!!!

What ship & itinerary are you considering?

Deck 4 has the Medical Center, staff cabins and used as the deck for leaving the ship while in port.

Deck 5 has some crew cabins but like Deck 4 is also used to exit and enter in port.

Deck 8 might have some sound from the karaoke in the evening. The karaoke booths are sound proof or are supposed be.

My personal choice for a cabin would be as close to mid ship as possible on Deck 5. Have done it a number of times and it works well.

I hope this helps. The Jewel is a wonderful ship with a great staff.

Thank you! so you didn't hear too much from deck 6? and we are going to the Bahamas. The itinerary isn't great. We'll only get off to snorkel at their cay but it is just r & r and as long as our daughter and son in law can go we'll be with them.

So glad to read this, we are on deck 5 for our upcoming cruise, and haven't heard much about deck 5.

Quick question for you, was it easier to get off at port bc you're right there?

Thanks!

Not really because I am very rarely in the cabin. Made it nice coming back, quick restroom stop and drop off shopping before heading to meet friends.

We were midship on the Jewel deck 5. It was under the casino. Once in a blue moon heard someone running down the hall overhead.

However, on disembarkation morning was awoken VERY early and VERY VERY loudly with them unloading luggage.

Luckily we disembarked in Athens and went to a hotel instead of the airport. Able to carch up with a nap later that day and then sightsee.

We were on the Sun for 33 days in a mid-ship Deck 4 porthole cabin and it was fine. Very quiet and there's enough of a view from the porthole, especially since we weren't in the cabin very much during the days.
