January Hawaii cruises

How are the crossings and weather for January 15 day cruises to Hawaii from LA?

Everything I have read is that it is rough. We moved ours from Jan to April hoping for smoother and warmer weather.

We did the San Diego 15 day jan 2012, the sea days were rough both ways, but not as rough as dec 2011 our steward told us, in 40 cruises my wife took seassick pills casue 4-5 sea days was getting to her. The weather and cruising in and around Hawaii was fine.

Mom & Dad did a Hawaii cruise in March and they were surprised at how cool it actually was. They said the balcony was a waste of money on this cruise. It was nice in HI but for they decided it would be better to do HI next time on NCL where you just do the islands and no sea days.
