I was also on the sailing with The OP. We had a party of 7 that did an overnight tour with Ramses. Mimmo was our guide. We never felt unsafe, all of the people were welcoming. They would actually stop us to say welcome. Even the children would stop to say hello.

We have never had a tour guide work harder to please us.

He wanted so badly to share his country and history with us and to return us safe.

Most of the Egyptians just want an opportunity to earn a living. Just like anywhere else in the world.
