Regal 10 day to Alaska

I just went on the 16 day Panama Canal cruise on the Regal last month and I loved the ship. It is elegant and not too big and not too small. It was a delight in every way. Food was fabulous and entertainment great. I have absolutely no complaints, only complements. We were on Emerald Deck in E209 which is an outside picture window cabin. It was full and yet you never felt crowded. Lines were non-existant except for the first night in the dining room.If I can answer any other questions, please contact me at terrytiner@comcast.net

and I'll try to help. Casino was great too, in fact unbeliveable. Be sure to play slot machine #064 !!! :)

Regal is a great ship, been on her twice, and have booked 'round the Horn on her, Mar 06.

For sailaway from Pier 35, try to be on port side, on deck. After she give three blasts on the whistle (horn), she will back into the channel, and then head for the open sea, with Pier 39, Fort Mason, The Presidio, and Fort Point all on port side before you get to the Golden Gate Bridge. (Actually, Fort Point is under the approaches to the GG Bridge.) On starboard side, there is Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the Marin headlands.

If a nice day, there probably will be pedestrians on the GG Bridge waving Bon Voyage, and if you have the right Captain, he will give a mighty blast on the ship's whistle (horn) in return salute. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time.

Expect a little chop (bumpy) outside the Golden Gate, as you go through an area known as the Potato Patch, where the currents from the Bay collide with the currents of the Japanese Current, which flows South along the Left Coast. It should smooth out as you stand out to sea.
