neverenoughtime Posted October 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2012 We have a 4 hour layover flying Lufthansa to Lufthansa. What is there to do while we wait?? Are there any art exhibits, special events, shops, particular restaurants or a manicure station (!) we can enjoy while waiting?? Haven't been to Frankfurt so appreciate your suggestions. ab0si Posted October 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2012 There are all sorts of shops and eateries. At least two spa type places. Airport tours are available, too. Cruise Junky Posted October 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2012 It'll take you about 2 just to get to your next gate ;) so don't count on having 4 hours there

We just flew from Venice to Frankfurt and then on to Philadelphia. Please give yourself ample time to get to your gate. Security is very tight in Frankfurt. Many screenings and passport checks on the way to gate.
alcpa1 Posted October 24, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 24, 2012 Four hours isn't really four hours especially if you are bussed from plane to terminal and/or vice versa, but Frankfurt has a fairly decent duty free system. There are many dining choices from grab and run to sit down. I hesitate to mention any particular restaurant since it's been a couple of years since I was there last and things do change. I would recommend you locate the amenities you seek closer to your departure gate. The airport is quite large with long walks possible.

Here's their website. A brand new section of section A of Terminal 1 just opened up called A-PLUS, which changes things somewhat. There are fewer situations where you're bussed to the plane from the gate, so that should make people happier, and transfers a little quicker. A Lufthansa-Lufthansa connection really depends if the start and end points are in Schengen(most of mainland Europe) or not. Assuming you're flying NON->Schengen, you should arrive in the Z gates (the floor above A) clear immigration, then head down to the A gates for a Schengen departure
