150edmiston Posted October 19, 2012 #51 Share Posted October 19, 2012
Seems to me he confused "unethical" with "illegal." Because of the generic disclaimer in every contract, pulling the 50% discount away from already-booked passengers who factored it into their decision may not be illegal, but in my eyes he's clearly wrong in saying it isn't "unethical." But corporate chiefs are too often oblivious to this distinction. See 2008 Wall Street. Frankly, to me that's the most disturbing thing of all the nicely-worded corporate-speak in his postings.
My rider was "does LP get this"? Personally, my view is he has missed the mark, as has any of his councils. Poor thought process, even worse execution. I don't think our views on how this has been handled are too far apart you and i. Ethics, morals, scruples et al.
