Just off the Elation!

Just got back early this morning from new Orleans and the Elation! We did the 5 day to Cozumel and Progreso November 12-17. It was my second cruise and we went with a fairly large group with the open bar package (I've had it both cruises). We did the Conquest last year and while I missed going to Grand Cayman this year, the staff and food were 10000000 times better. We were on the Empress deck in an ocean view. The location we fabulous but I did miss the balcony.

The ship's layout is a little weird with "secret" stairways all over the place but I definitely liked the smaller population better then last year as well. The serenity area, in theory, is nice but it's really just an extension of Lido. The outdoor Lido eating areas overlook the serenity area and the three times I was there, babies were out there crying. I ended up going to deck 10 (under the funnel) and hanging out there. Never saw a single kid there even though the kid pool and basketball courts are there!

Our group meeting place was the Drama (casino) bar. We kind of overtook thst area. There was a horrible, horrible, horrible guitar player there every night but we would heckle each other back and forth so despite his bad performances, he was a good sport and fun to interact with. Romela and Oscar were our bartenders there and they rocked.

As far as ports go, I didn't get off at Progreso and only got off for about an hour in Cozumel to buy a couple things and use the wifi at 3 amigos. I wanted to do a beach day but no one else did so I just wandered around alone and enjoyed it!

If anyone has questions, let me know!

When you say that you had the "open bar package" does that mean that the Elation now has the "My Awesome bar" program. or is this something that I could look into. I have never seen another poster talk about an open bar package. Any help would be awesome! Will be heading out on the elation in January. Thanks

It's a group package through a travel agent, not the one carnival is trying out. You have to have at least 32 people and everyone kn the group must buy yhe package. This particular agent takes care of everything, you just send her the money. This group has done 5 or 6 (my second with them). I won't cruise any other way!
