Getaway Fares

How far out from departure date do cruises generally start to show a Getaway Fare? I'm looking at Arcadia to Iceland and Norway in July............

After the payment date when many people may forgo their deposit when times are tough. If enough spaces left the spaces can be resold at a lower price because they already have a deposit paid by someone else.

So within 12 weeks of sailing.

Depends on how well they are selling, some of this years transatlantic cruises had getaway fares 6 months before sailing!

Is the answer to look at the P&O website very regularly then?

We found that special offer fares (not getaways).... they had choice of cabin and dining were on sale 2 weeks after we booked a family cruise - 2 balcony cabins for the 4 of us . At a saving of £2500. We had booked a year in advance. You can imagine how we felt. P&O not at all interested.

It's the last time we will book early. If the ship is full- so be it !!

Unfortunately that's the problem we have here in the UK unlike in the States..........I have never been able to fathom it out, and yes, the cruise lines just aren't interested once you have booked!!

Many are long before the final payment date. We booked one earlier this year about 5 months ahead.
