6rugrats Posted December 17, 2012 #26 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I don't purchase insurance at time of booking, because I've had to cancel several cruises between time of deposit and final payment for various reasons. Why pay for insurance on a cruise that you're not going on.Rich I assume most people think they will probably be taking the cruise if they bother to book it. If you don't purchaseinsurance within a certain time period of the date you paid your deposit, you are usually prevented from having coverage for "pre-existing conditions" and don't have the ability to purchase "cancel for any reason" insurance. If you have to cancel the cruise, you can transfer your insurance policy to another trip; it doesn't have to be a cruise. So, no money wasted. cruiseco Posted December 18, 2012 #28 Share Posted December 18, 2012 Do all insurance companies allow you to transfer to another cruise or vacation? All third-party insurers that I'm aware of do.
Grumpy100 Posted January 18, 2013 Author #29 Share Posted January 18, 2013 Ama offered us a loss of $400 for this deposit and offered a $400 offer towards our next cruise with them if it is within a year. My FIL was getting better but then last week we had to call in Hospice.
