Does Caribe Hotel offer port Transportation?

We will be flying into San Juan on the evening of Feb 9th and have a room rented at the Hilton Caribe Hotel. Sunday we will be embarking on the Adventures of the Seas.

I realize that we have little time to visit the San Juan area...I am looking for help regarding our time frame.

1. Does anyone know if the Caribe Hotel offers transportation to the port?

2. What is the earliest time we can embark onto the Adventures of the Seas?

3. Do you think we can embark and then get off the ship and visit the area?

Thank you

We always stay at the Caribe prior to our cruises out of SJ. The hotel does not provide transfers, but cabs are always lined up to take you to the shop.

I suggest getting a cab about 11: AM, check in your luggage and then head to OSJ for the day. Stop for a pina colada at Barachina's [ the one with the 151 rum will certainly get you in the cruise spirit], visit a fort, and then go back to the ship for check in. Embarkation is normally around 12: to 12:30. The lines can be long. If you can manage to drop off your big pieces of luggage and keep the carry on with you, you will have more time in OSJ.

Another option is to go directly to OSJ, drop your luggage at Barrachina's - they hold luggage gratis, but a few dollars as a courtesy is nice, have a drink, wander around the city, and in the late afternoon, pick up all of your luggage, and take a cab to the pier. There's a taxi stop across the street from Barrachina's.

Your decision will depend on when the ship sails.

Hi Darcy thanks for responding,

Will the Hotel hold our luggage? I am thinking due to the time change, we will be awake early morning. If we head to OSJ approx 8:00 am...do the walking tour, eat lunch, and visit the forts.

Would it be to our advantage to have luggage at Hotel or Barrachina's?

Thank you

They will hold your luggage at the hotel - probably with all the rest of the luggage in a pile in the lobby area. Personally, taking the luggage with you into OSJ might be a better option - saves a cab ride back to the hotel to pick up the luggage and then go back to SJ to board the ship.

If you are not hauling luggage, you can always save a few$$ and take the bus into OSJ. It's about a 5 minute walk from the Caribe [use the back entrance by the Lagoon Villas - that's where we stay], walk up the street, turn left, cross the street opposite Subway, and the stop is clearly marked. The bus takes you into the main terminal, from there, you can hop on one of the free Trolleys or walk across the street to the first fort. Bus fare is exact change, 75 cents each way.
