Cash out OBC on Princess cruises

Depends on how its paid. Veterans is a 'benefit' so has to be used. If your TA pays cash for the OBC it can be cashed out, if they get it via contract, no.

That said, you can usually just get chips at the casino and cash em out later, but in some cases they won't let non-cash OBC be used for that (which they are actually not supposed to do, allow it that is)

Can we cash out Veterans and TA OBC on Princess cruises or do we have to spend it on board.
If you have a credit at the end of the cruise (unlikely but possible), you can receive a refund depending on the source of the OBC. Military and TA OBC cannot. If you sent yourself OBC or you received it as a "gift" from someone, you can.

Chances are that by the end of the cruise, your folio will have a balance due. Just the auto-tip can eat up an OBC and that's not including drinks, sodas, t-shirts, etc.

Last March, I had a credit balance after my Star cruise but then I started with almost $600 in credit from my TA, shareholder OBC, Elite OBC, etc.

I have seen many such statements posted in the past, but, actually, the truth is that all OBC is posted on your account at the beginning of the cruise and it is not separated out again by source after the initial posting.

If you have money left on your account when you disembark, from any source, it will either be refunded to you in cash or credited to your credit card on file, as you desire.

We first discovered this last spring when we were stopped at disembarkation and asked to return to the purser's desk. When I got there, they gave me $28 and some odd change in cash before we could disembark.

We recently boarded a 14-day round-trip LAX cruise to Hawaii in Honolulu and, because our cruise was so much shorter than we had intended, had a fair amount of OBC left at disembarkation in Ensenada. Prior to disembarkation we were asked if we wanted cash or to have the money credited to our card of record.

Of course, IMHO, it would be very tacky indeed to try to preserve money from one's OBC by removing the automatic tip. I have heard people bragging that they had done so and that made me very sad for them. It seemed very ignoble. The people on the ship work so very hard and deserve every dime they get, plus more if you can afford it and they done an especially good job of serving you.
