MarGG Posted February 22, 2013 Author #26 Share Posted February 22, 2013 When you check in, your credit card details are taken, and you're given a ship's card. There's no money spent at all on the ship (apart from the casino, slot machines etc)....you hand your card over, just like a credit card, even if it's just for a packet of crisps. At the end of the cruise, you'll receive your account, which will already have been taken from your card- you can pay cash...but they like a certain amount up front. One thing which will have been removed is what they call gratuities- a form of tipping. This differs widely on cruise lines; on American lines it's around $10 to $12 per person per day....say £7 or £8. The Brit ships are between £3.60 to £5, pp,pday. Your OBC-if you're given some- will go towards your final account, for drinks, any excursions you may go on, gratuities, shopping on board etc. Keep hunting! Thank you for the explanation. This is very helpful!

jocap Posted March 29, 2013 #28 Share Posted March 29, 2013 Well done! Is that on the Eclipse? Everyone seems to enjoy her- we were due to go on her last year, but an accident prevented us. Have a great time- come back and tell us about it. :)
