hbear Posted February 8, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2013 We've been told (by family member) that there was a Lundie Distillery somewhere around Glasgow. No other information known, and internet search brought up nothing. Has anyone heard of it? Thanks
Cotswold Eagle Posted February 8, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2013 The two distilleries near Glasgow are Glengoyne and Auchentoshan. I can't think what 'Lundie' might refer to, I'm afraid. There's a place called Lundie, apparently, but that's over by Dundee and doesn't have a distillery :)

Maybe we can get there during our port day at Glasgow.

Maybe we can get there during our port day at Glasgow. I wouldn't try to plan that - it's across the other side of the country :) But I now have the information you were really looking for! William Lundie & Co in Glasgow are whisky blenders and bottlers. Their best known brand is probably Lismore. This means they don't have their own distillery, but rather buy a selection of malts from various distilleries and blend their own whiskies. Their brands are mostly for export, which is probably why the name didn't immediately chime with me! I am not aware that they have premises you can visit, and in any case visiting an actual distillery to see how Scotch Whisky is made, rather than mixed and put in bottles, would probably be more interesting. WOW, this is good to know this. Thanks so much. When I did a google map from Edinburgh to Lundie it said the timing would be one hour and 21 minutes. From Glasgow the trip would be one hour and 41 minutes. The trip from Edinburgh has been ruled out because there's so much we want to see and do there. We haven't made plans for Glasgow as yet. Thank you for your thoughts.
