Med cruise - Night Life?

Heading to Europe in May - Going to book a Carnival cruise. (Venice to Barcelona) Is there much nightlife? Shows? Piano Bar?

yes there will be good stuff to do at night. Outdoor movies if they have a screen, 2 nightly shows, deck parties etc.

the difference is that by 11pm things will get very quiet. there will still be stuff going on until 2am if you want but all venues will be sparsely populated by that time.

a cruise is the greatest way to experience many different european cities the excursions are fabulous.

btw, expect to pay way more than you budget if you actually want to experience Rome, Athens, Venice etc.

It costs to visit the colesieum, the parthenon, take a gondola ride.

also, if possible stretch this trip out as long as you can with several pre and post days on land. don't skimp if you can do it.

we did the CCL Feedom in 2008 and only added 3 nights pre cruise in Rome

we did Ruby Princess in 2012 and added 5 nights pre in Rome..took the train to Venice..added 2 nights there...and upon debark..added 2 nights in Barcelona.

we flew aerlingus and almost added a night in Dublin during the layover, but thought it was time to conserve funds.

We'll be doing this cruise (Venice to Barcelona) in October. I'm imagining that our personal nightlife on board Sunshine will be similar to the southern Caribbean cruise on the Victory that had such early ports almost every day...that is to say we'll probably be back in our cabin by 10 pm or so every night so that we can get up early the next morning.

If your cruise is as port intensive as our Magic Med cruise then you will be dog tired and in bed by 10pm. We had a fantastic time but all of our tours started way early and went on for 8 hours or so. Thankfully we did anytime dining and that helped with not having to rush to dinner. Also, I agree with the poster that said to try to stretch the trip out as far as possible. We wound up coming several days before in Barcelona and then after we flew to Rome and stayed in a B&B in Tuscany for 3 nights. We were gone for 2 1/2 weeks but this way we got more bang for our buck.
