Travel insurance : have you ever made a claim ?

We are just now going through quite a bit of trauma with a well known travel insurance company for older persons, it's a bit of a saga really. We had made a claim for cancellation after a post cruise tour in Argentina had to be cancelled due to the general strike last year (after disembarking from the lovely Veendam), still unresolved, and are now having a nightmare with them over cancellations due to DH's just diagnosed cancer, not a prior condition.

 

We are hoping to be cruising again soon, once he has had his op, but I am wondering if anyone has had a good experience with travel insurance ?

We have only claimed once when my Dad broke is leg before going on a trip. The TA handled the claim and went smooth as silk.
