Kids Club Hours while in Ports of Alaksa?

We are on a cruise to Alaska. The rep told me the hours of the clubs on sea days and were 8-5 on port days.

The Port times in Alaska are not all the same. Juneau does not start dock until after 1. On Hal you could pay extra for dinner hours and have them stay in there. Is this the case with Princess.

The only excursion I want to do is in Juneau from 3:30-6:30 and I know my 2 youngest will be very bored plus they will have the ididarod specialist that day and they would love that. So just looking at my options.

For the record I am not super sure about leaving them on the boat but the rep said it was done often. Has anyone done this?

Our Princess Patters for the Shockwaves (8-12 year old) group from our Alaskan cruise on the Star Princess 2 years ago are posted here: http://s204.photobucket.com/user/cruisinmama06/library/Princess%20Patters?sort=3&page=1

Sorry, I don't have any for the younger group, but hours will be similar. I looked specifically at the Juneau day, when we were in port 11 AM - 10 PM. The club was CLOSED from 5-6 PM for dinner. If this is the same on your sailing, it will NOT work with your excursion plans. I looked quickly through all of them and they close 12 - 1 PM for lunch and 5 - 6 PM for dinner every day. Even on nights when they have kid dinners, they close from 5-6 (presumably so STAFF can have dinner!) and reopen at 6 PM for the kid dinner.

Looks like you might have to rethink your plans for that day...

My girl was 7 (and just a few days) when we went on our Alaskan cruise. She really did have desire to go out in the ports, so we did let her stay in the kids' club for the ports (except for Ketchikan as we didn't get to sign her up ahead of time). The only time we had an excursion was in Skagway for the afternoon. So for that port we did our town sightseeing in the morning, got back to the ship and picked her up for lunch. Then took her back to the kids' room for the afternoon, left the ship to get on the van. The van was a bit late getting back due to the weather conditions, but it was a Princess-booked excursion, so no problems there. We got to the ship about 15 minutes late and ran to the kids' area with giant apologies to the staff there and signed her out (we remembered that when figuring out the tip the last night).

It's better if there's an excursion that works time wise so you're not keeping the staff waiting, and also if on a ship's tour. But sometimes you have a hard decision to make, and this may be one of those.
