I have wanted to do one of these cruises since hubby bought his first Harley. He is concerned about the hassle of loading and unloading his bike. Was the process long? We're the bikes secured for sailing? Were the roads safe? How long is your day of riding? Can you leave bike on the ship and skip the ride for the day and just do something else?

We had a fairly large group of around 25 bikes. All the riders come together as a team to push the bikes off. The whole process took less than 30 minutes.

 

There are wheel chocks, you turn your handlebars and lock them. No tie downs used. Put your bike in gear. No issues with any of the bikes moving.

 

Well, some islands you drive on the "wrong side of the road". But you are being lead by a chase vehicle. So its pretty much follow the leader. St Martins roads were the worst of the trip. Potholes and speedbumps. 2 wheelers could avoid the potholes, but the trikes could not. Other than that, roads are fine. Lots of twisties and turnies (a lot of them on hills), you must have at least 3000 miles under your belt to take this cruise. The TA, local police and local bike clubs that escort you do a great job.

 

You ride the whole day the ship is docked. You are the first off the ship, and one of the last to board.

 

You may choose not to ride. Just let them know so that when they load the bikes on the day before you choose not to ride, they load your bike so that is convenient to get the other bikes off loaded.

The Make a Wish walk lead by Captain Henrik Loy. I don't remember the exact amount of money that was raised. Just that the number was somewhere between $5000-$6000.

At the end of our day in St Thomas, there was an older gentleman taken away in an ambulance. I hope everything turned out okay for him.
