Strikes?

Recommended Posts

I saw in the Italy section that there are websites to keep up with upcoming strikes in Italy. Is there anything similar for the Baltic countries? Is this something to worry about?

Strikes are quite rare and its nothing you have to worry about.

YES! Not as much to worry with on those pesky strikes in the Baltics. For Italy, Greece, France, etc., there you can have some issues and challenges.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

  • 2 weeks later...

well It seems just because I said that there are no strikes, the bus drivers in Stockholm have gone on a strike.

Affected lines:

2 most departures cancelled

3 completely cancelled

4 very reduced traffic

43 cancelled

44 cancelled

53 most departures cancelled

55 cancelled

59 cancelled

66 cancelled

69 cancelled

74 cancelled

76 cancelled

96 cancelled

From 03.00 (am) at June 20th Subway, red line is cancelled.

From Frihamnen to Vasa either walk or go with Sjovägen,

SL-tickets are valid for Sjövägen so you could try to buy tickets at

the SL ticket kiosk at Frihamnen

http://www.sjovagen.nu/web/page.aspx?refid=32

Departures: 07:04am 08:09am 08:49am 10:52am 12:37pm

from the outermost point of Frihamnen pier.

Walking directions :

https://maps.google.se/maps?saddr=stockholm+frihamnen&daddr=59.3344264,18.1067835+to:Vasamuseet,+Djurg%C3%A5rdsv%C3%A4gen,+Stockholm&hl=sv&ie=UTF8&ll=59.333518,18.108902&spn=0.007256,0.02959&sll=59.334503,18.106499&sspn=0.014512,0.05918&geocode=FeR-iQMd63gUASFt1CBb6ASEJCnParr4tYJfRjFt1CBb6ASEJA%3BFRpfiQMdn0kUASnbbOHBsoJfRjF7J721Y629rg%3BFQhHiQMdrQ4UASFBMsG08ZrwzymvKYNtVJ1fRjFBMsG08Zrwzw&oq=Vasa&t=h&dirflg=w&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=15&via=1&z=16

If Gärdesvägen is open, continue straight ahead on it down to Dag Hammarskölds väg instead of going to the left onto Skarpögatan.

From Stadsgårdskajen;

Take any bus from Londonviadukten to Slussen, from Slussen go with Djugårdsfärjan.

Or go with the HoHo boats.

I wonder if bus #1 is available from Frihamnen to downtown ?

In that case it should be bus #1 to Hötorget + T-bana green line Hötorget - Gamla Stan.

How about the tram (#7) to reach Vasa & Skansen?

Bus #1 from Frihamnen to Hötorget, go to Sergels torg (3 blocks south) , take the tram?

As far as I know, Bus #1 is not affected at the moment and it seems that the Trams are not affected either.

Only those lines I listed in my previous post are affected at this time.

Would this affect the T-Bahn? I suspect not but would love to hear from those who really do know. What about the recent "riots" in Stockholm?

Yes as I said in my previous post T-banan Red line is affected and all traffic on the Red Line will be cancelled from 03.00am tomorrow if the strike is not over by then.

Thanks for jinxing it for us!

I was counting on using Bus 76 in 10 days.I will be in Stockholm with a Stockholm card. I hope the whole thing blows over by then.

I don't see any signs of the Strike blowing over and am very concerned. I purchased voucher for the STOCKHOLM card. It will not be offering the same value if it does not cover bus transportation.

Plus if the T banna (subway) doesn't help us get to our locations, we will be paying alot of extra money on Taxis.

Does anyone have any good news about the strike getting resolved?

Will the ferry to Drottningholm be affected by the bus/subway strike? We are docking at Frihamnen on Sat July 6 on the Eurodam. What advice can you give us regarding transportation options to central Stockholm from the port if the strike continues until then?

Hello! I would check the subway/bus site http://www.sl.se and check out.(They have infos in english) I believe that you will walk to the subway station Gardet. About 20 to 25 min walk. And the boats to Drottningholm are not taken out for strikes. Have a good time here. Chris58

perhaps we could stick to one thread of discussion?

Ouch. My first reprimand on Cruise Critic.

On June 3 you wrote "Strikes are quite rare and its nothing you have to worry about." Then a strike occurred.

Then on June 19 you wrote "T-banan Red line is affected and all traffic on the Red Line will be cancelled from 03.00am tomorrow if the strike is not over by then." Then I read that the T-bana is not affected.

Humbly, I am just looking for updated information.

If no progress is made before Saturday, 29 June 1400, additional municipal closed go on strike.

Then buses in Stockholm paralyzed and airport buses in Stockholm, Malmö and Gothenburg to stop driving.

This is a translated version of a news story about the bus strike. http://www.expressen.se/nyheter/samtalen-avbrots---utan-nagra-framsteg/

THe HOHO buses were suggested to me as an alternative to bus 76 by the Stockholm Card people, so they are not affected by the strike. But the bus line I identified as getting me around the best, Bus 76 is shut down by the strike. There is already a high demand for Taxis, and it may get worse. I will likely be taking a taxi from Gamla Stan Sunday to get to the boat.

I am not sure if they mean the "Flugbusse" when they say airport busses.
