Transport from Southampton Hotel to Cruise Terminal

Recommended Posts

Later this summer we will be staying at the Premier Inn West Quay in Southampton to take a Celebrity ship our from City Terminal berth 101. As this cruise is only part of a three week vacation, husband and I will each have fairly large suitcases. Not sure about walking with them from the hotel to the cruise terminal.

Would appreciate advice from those who have stayed at this hotel and gone out of City Terminal. Do you think we'd find it managable or do you recommend a taxi? If a taxi, is that easy to get from the hotel on a cruise departure day, or would you recommend prebooking one to pick us up and transport us?

Appreciate fellow cruisers advice as usual!

Hotel should be able to get you a cab if you want...I think its £7 flat fare, but itseasily walkable if you want.

This map https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Premier+Inn,+96+Harbour+Parade,+Southampton,+Hampshire+SO15+1BA&daddr=Herbert+Walker+Ave&hl=en&ll=50.900191,-1.410692&spn=0.003749,0.009431&sll=50.90057,-1.410702&sspn=0.003749,0.009431&geocode=FZayCAMdcILq_ylD6Nwms3Z0SDEjQO1Ej40UWw%3BFXuuCAMdS2vq_w&t=h&dirflg=w&mra=me&mrsp=1&sz=17&z=17

shows the Premier Inn at A (its the waste ground immediately above the A, but don't worry, the hotel is there!) and B is the entrance to the cruise terminal. You can actually do a shorter walk than shown. Come down Harbour Parade, cross West Quay Rd and turn left, then turn right through the Holiday Inn car park (which is to the left of the Holiday Inn) and you are at dock gate 8. Walk up Herbert walker Ave to the terminal... 10 minutes.

As Simon's post.

The walk is level, with sidewalk, & with pedestrian crosswalk lights to get you across the main highway.

Then duck through the Holiday Inn parking lot to avoid the dog-leg to the traffic island.

Can't imagine any cab accepting a pre-booking for that distance, the hotel can rustle one up for you with ten or fifteen minutes notice.

Translated into American :D

We stayed at the same hotel before our TA last november and the cab fare was $7bps. The concierge had a list of all the guests that needed a taxi and arranged them all. About 10 groups were headed for the cruise ship around noon. The Taxi would show up and the driver would call your name out.

If that was your Grand Princess cruise it would have been from a different cruise terminal -Mayflower or Ocean.

With luggage only City cruise terminal is sensibly walkable from Premier Inn West Quay.

And Bermudamom might want to check the weather before deciding walk or taxi ;)

Are you suggesting JB that the weather might not be as warm and balmy as usual? Don't want you putting off the visitors to our shores!!

Bermudamom...if you want to start a conversation with anyone you might meet in Britain, just say "Nice/horrible/wet/sunny/hot/cold weather we're having" and you will have a friend for the next hour!:D Have fun.
