HappyMomTo3 Posted June 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2013 We are in Barbados one day next week (sailing Carnival Valor) - first time cruisers with kids (age 13, 10, 9) and on a SERIOUS budget. I think we would like to be lazy on a beach. Which beaches are recommended & transportation, etc. on a budget? Or other ideas... Thanks!
Aplmac Posted June 17, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2013 Bus Fare on the island is US$1 per person (= Bds.$2.00 per person) That is definitely your cheapest transportation on the island - and your easiest as long as you stick to West coast and South coast routes. If you guys are young/young-ish with no mobility issues, you may want to walk it, into Bridgetown, thru the shopping area(Broad St.) and cross the bridge just past the shopping area, that'll put you on BAY Street. Walk along Bay St. about 400 yds. until you come to Boatyard's brightly-painted wall, mostly yellow in color.. and go just a lil past Boatyard to a window-to-the-sea space where you can access Carlisle Bay beach for free rather than pay Boatyard $15 each (but which gets you their amenities -and a drink I think?) :) This picture is a bit beyond the Boatyard and Lobster Alive area, but you get the picture.. Carlisle Bay beach is a very nice beach about 2 miles long see satellite picture below .
