Japanese Encephalitis

I will be traveling to Singapore, Vietnam, and Japan. The CDC website recommends getting a shot for Japanese Encephalitis. Has anyone gotten the shot for this? How far in advance do I need to get it? Any info/advice is appreciated. Thank you!

We have visited these countries many times and will be there again next year. It has never come up with our physician.

 

I have read through the CDC site and do not see where it is recommended, particularly for short visits. With an incidence rate of 1 out of 1 million people it is very rare to get this.

 

I would discuss this with your physician.
