I tried the Tropical Hurricane, which was pretty delicious!

At this point, we went back to the room to watch the sail away. There were a few dolphins, tons of birds and a pelican.

After we watched the sail away, we went to the spa raffle. They gave away 5 or 6 gifts, and that was it.

After the raffle, we went back to the room to get ready for dinner. The first night was a casual night, and we hadn't gotten our luggage yet... so we wore what we boarded the ship in.

For an appetizer I ate the chicken tenders with honey mustard dressing.

My dad tried the fish, and he liked it a LOT!

DSCN0135.jpg

I tried the brisket, which had mashed potatoes and carrots. It was pretty good, but came out cold.

Creme Brulee for dessert:

After dinner, we went in the fun shops and played a little bit in the casino. They had superstar karaoke, which is always entertaining to watch so we went there for the remainder of the night.

It was our first full day at sea, and I had an appointment at the spa for a facial at 8 am. (OMG sooooo early!)

The phone rang around 7:45 am, and the spa attendant told me it was time to wake up and make my way there for my appointment. I quickly got ready and headed up there. After checking in, they led me to a room where I was told to fill out my information. To my surprise, there wasn't a place to sit at all! This room was FILLED to the max with other passengers. After a few minutes, my attendant came to get me and led me to my treatment room.

The facial was nice, and the attendant was super friendly. After my facial, I went back to the room to get ready for breakfast.

Around 9:30 am, we headed down to the Northern Lights Dining room for the Punchliner's Comedy Brunch. They had a bloody mary bar set up outside of the dining room, but most people opted for frozen drinks (at 9:30 am?!?, oh what the heck it's vacation!).

We were led to a table off in the corner, and handed our menus.

After ordering our drinks and food... we sat there. Waiting... and waiting... and waiting... and then some more waiting. (Now I realize that these waiters/waitresses work VERY hard, and work long hours. I'm assuming every single one of them had been yelled at that morning, because NO ONE was happy or on their game).

After waiting for food for quite a while, we noticed that everyone had baskets of breakfast pastries/breads. Our servers were no where to be found, and there was a station with stacks of fresh bread baskets. Growing increasingly impatient and hungry, my dad got up and took one of the baskets from the stack for us to eat.

Lemon bread from the basket (amazing).

DSCN0150.jpg

Finally our food arrived!

I started off with the fresh fruit and cottage cheese (it was hot. ewww.)

Banana cream pie (which was honestly one of the best desserts of the entire cruise!):

When the comedian came out, he read off jokes told by other comedians and allowed audience members to answer who the person was. Before even going to this brunch, I knew that the comedians didn't preform for very long... but really? That's all you got?!

Anyways after brunch, we went to the steakhouse to make reservations. They were getting ready for their cooking demonstration, so everyone was busy.

We then went to the casino and played the slots for a little while (I was down about $60 bucks when we quit playing for the day).

After donating money to Carnival, we headed to the art auction preview. It was held in a conference room down on deck 4, and there was a huge line of people waiting to get in. The auctioneer was one we had on a previous cruise, and was super boring to watch. I have to give it to the team though, these people sold the crap out of some art that day.

We went up to the lido deck after the auction to grab a late lunch, before going back to the room to relax. The first sea night was a formal night, so we started getting ready for our dinner.

After taking photos, we headed to the Southern Lights dining room and placed our orders.

Alligator (I live in Louisiana, and LOVE to eat alligator so it was an obvious choice)

At this point, it was time for dessert. The waiters came out with a birthday cake for me (it wasn't my bday until Saturday, but OK). They all sang happy birthday and lit candles for me to blow out. (Super nice!!)

We went back to the room to change out of our formal attire, and had a towel animal waiting

After changing, we headed to the Showtime theater to watch the show.

The cast put on the Grooveline, which was like 70's music and dancing. They did a great job, I just didn't like the music.

Showtime theater:

After the show, my dad went back to the room to go to bed... while mom and I went walking around the ship. We sat in deck chairs to wait for the movie to come in. Around 11 pm "I don't know how she does it" came on. We watched a little bit, and decided to go back to the room and go to bed.

On to Day 3! We woke up and watched a little bit of the cruise director's morning show. It was very dull, all they talked about was the movies they would like to be in. I guess there is only soooo much you can talk about on a ship day after day.

After getting ready we went to try the punchliner's brunch again. We placed our orders, and didn't have to grab our own bread this time! Progress!

Fruit:

DSCN0183-1.jpg

Mac n' Cheese with chicken: (delicious!!)

DSCN0184-1.jpg

After we ate our entrees, we sat there and waited for dessert. Meanwhile, the servers were very confused as to why we were still there. The lady next to our table kept talking loudly, and describing the 'pillow pets' she had received thus far. Finally the servers realized their mistake, and brought out the desserts.

When the comedian came out today... it was the same guy, same routine. Lame.

After breakfast, we went to the Redfrog Pub to grab drinks!

DSCN0188.jpg

Today I tried the Caribbean Iced Tea... a couple of these and you could definitely be drunk as crap.

DSCN0190.jpg

Mom got a bud light:

DSCN0191.jpg

After the drinks, my mom made us go to the Lightning art auction. Thank goodness the word lightning was associated with it, because I couldn't take much more of the auctioneer.

After the auction, we went to the Showtime theater for Turbo Trivia.

DSCN0192.jpg

After turbo trivia, the game of love show happened... it was very funny and cute! At this point, we were super hungry so we went to the deli on the lido deck to grab a sandwich.

Mom also got us a Kiss on the Lips to split:

After our late lunch, we went back to the room and lounged around for a little bit. Around 6 pm, we went and watched karaoke for a little bit, until it was time to get ready for dinner in the Cucina del Capitano!

While we were getting ready, my dad went to go do the art auction check out for my mom. (She bought three new prints).

And then it was time for dinner!! I was super excited for this night, since I love love love Italian food!

The restaurant was beautiful:

DSCN0198.jpg

The brought out bruchetta, and a young girl came around with a wine cart. The poor girl was so shy, and was forced to sing a song about wine to us. After her routine, my mom tried a sample and decided not to order any.

DSCN0199.jpg

DSCN0200.jpg

For an appetizer, I tried the meatballs... which were very good.

DSCN0201.jpg

Mom got some kind of salad, which she wasn't a huge fan of...

For an entree, I ordered the parmesan chicken. I have to say that this as definitely the BEST chicken parmesan I have EVER had in my 24 years of life!!! Just looking at this picture makes me want some!

DSCN0206.jpg

I also ordered the rosemary potatoes for a side

DSCN0207.jpg

Mom ordered the spaghetti carbonara (which had uncooked noodles)

DSCN0209.jpg

Sooo after the bug incident, I ordered the cannolis

DSCN0210.jpg

After dinner, I'd like to say that we did something super exciting... butttt we didn't. We were all really tired, and so we went back to the room and relaxed.

Up next Day 4- Roatan!!

This is the best Magic review I've seen so far, great job! I am one of a group of 40 friends and family members sailing on 8/11/13 and can't wait! 27 days until we sail and we are all so excited! We are doing our first meet and greet on this sailing with our fellow cruise critics. Did you all have one? Did you have the spa package on your trip? Curious if you thought it was worth the $150 or not.
