Sailing Out of Boston

First try to download a map of the Harbor Islands so you can reference your location as you sail out of Boston. One of the first historic sights is Castle Island, on the starboard side. You may also see Fort Warren on George's Island and Boston Light as you head into the open ocean.

Check with your local library for books by Edward Rowe Snow. He was an author who wrote about pirates and ghosts along the New England coast along with historic facts about the various islands. When I was very young, sailing in & out of Boston Harbor, my father loved to recount E. R Snow's stories about each of the islands. Snow was also known as the Flying Santa, visiting light houses along the coast at Christmas. Lots of history associated with the many islands.
